I don’t know who chose the thumbnail image for the video of my Drupalcon Dev Days keynote, butt the positioning of the YouTube play button…chef’s kiss! 😘

This keynote is the most research I’ve ever put into a presentation. With “artificial intelligence” increasingly being compared to human intelligence and emotion, I wanted to make it clear to everyone where we really are with the technology. Strip out the hype-laden marketing, strip out the impressive-but-shallow comparison to human speech, and start with the basics of what makes up human intelligence so we can compare and contrast to recent LLMs.

Surprisingly, neuroscience and AI have had a long collaborative history over the past several decades. By showing the evolution of human intelligence, I hope my keynote shows how close LLMs actually are to Artificial General Intelligence.

It was a fun deep dive into the topic and I hope my presentation makes it just as fun for you to watch.
